Bitter cold to continue through first half of January

​Weather specialist Rick McCoy said late Tuesday that the overall bitter cold that is currently in place is likely to remain around the area at least through the middle of January. McCoy said that the current run of days of below 20 degree highs is one of the longest on record in the local area.
