Allan D. Burkhardt

Allan D. Burkhardt, 82, of Berne passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at his residence. He was born on July 13, 1934 in Winchester to Norman and Mary M. (Mullen) Burkhardt. He was married on November 28, 1969 to Judith (Johnson) Cox.

He was employed at Bendix Sheffield in Dayton, Ohio for 16 years and later worked as manager of the engineering department at Micromatic/Textron in Berne with 23 years of service. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard. He was a bowler, and in 1966, he bowled a perfect 300 game. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, golfing, and sprint car racing.

He is survived by his wife of Berne; two sons, David Burkhardt of Bedford, Texas; and Robert “Bobby” Burkhardt of North Richland Hills, Texas; daughter, Diana Kiger of Keller, Texas; step-son, David Cox of Beach City, Ohio; step-daughter, Paula (Cox) Rossi of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren, Tony Burkhardt; Julia (Burkhardt) Nelson; Gabrielle Burkhardt; Ryan Daniels; and Grant Daniels; four step-grandchildren, Krystal (Cox) Erdos; Dillon Cox; Brian Rossi; and Maranda Rossi; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne. Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Winchester.
