Bennie G. Hurt
Bennie G. Hurt, 79, of Geneva passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at his home surrounded by those who love him after a brief but debilitating illness. He was born on January 6, 1938 in Russell Springs, Kentucky to Charles and Jennie (Montgomery) Hurt. He was married on September 1, 1973 to Patricia L. Premer. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2002. He later married Nancy Bricker on May 21, 2008.
He served with the US Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He worked for Jay Petroleum/Pak-A-Sak for over 50 years. He was a member of the American Legion and Noble Congregational Christian Church and attended Bryant Wesleyan Church.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Brian (Janelle) Hurt; and Ryan (Julie) Hurt, both of Portland; two step-sons, Terry (Carla) Elzey of Muncie; and Randy (Carol) Elzey of Geneva; two step-daughters, Pam (Tim) Johnson of Portland; and Sherry (Jay) Studebaker of Geneva; two sisters, Jerrie (Dan) Dunbar; and Doralee (Jerry) Lane, both of Russell Springs, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Hurt; and Jean Sterns; and brother, Charles Hurt.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 5 and one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, June 6 at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland. Officiating will be Pastor Paul VanCise. Burial will be at Macedon Cemetery in Macedon, Ohio.
