Berniece A. Davidson
Berniece A. Davidson, 97, of Decatur and a native of Berne, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. She was born on May 29, 1920 to Christian and Martha (Ebnit) Zurcher. She was married on August 31, 1947 to Richard Davidson.
She was a resident at Woodcrest of Decatur and a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene in Berne. She was a homemaker and was employed at the Berne Dime Store and self employed making and selling hundreds of pillows. She enjoyed gardening, baking, caring for flowers, and arranging natural living and artificial arrangements. She exhibited a good sense of humor and especially loved her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria (Gary) Reed of Berne; and Rhonda (Mark) Eifler of Newburg; son, Darwin Davidson of Decatur; two sisters, Deloris Hirschy of Monroe; and Evelyn Yohe of Demoyne, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Merlin (Leah) Zurcher of Berne; and Marvin (Evelyn) Zurcher of Rockford, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Cheryl Franklin; brother, Raymond Zurcher; and two sisters, Irene Sullivan; and Iva Williams.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, August 24 at Church of the Nazarene in Berne. Officiating will be Dr. Wayne Steury and Pastor Paul Tubbs. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
