Dale W. Moser

Dale Wayne Moser, 86, of rural Columbia City went to be with the Lord at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. He was an inpatient at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. He was born on August 23, 1930 in Geneva to Edwin and Elma (Kneuss) Moser. He was married on June 8, 1986 to Janet Bartz.

His formative years were spent in Geneva. He completed his education Newton High School in Pleasant Hill, Ohio. On February 19, 1952 he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany. On January 26, 1954, he received an honorable discharge. 

He returned to the Geneva area, where he delivered gas and oil products. He later moved to Columbia City working with Wilson’s IGA. In 1965, he built and operated Dale’s IGA on north Main St. in Columbia City, which he sold to Scott’s Foods in 1968. He then went to work for Superior Sanitary Supply in Fort Wayne until 1981 when he joined Superior Supply in Marion, where he worked until 1994. In 1994, he joined HP Products of Indianapolis as an area sales representative and continued until recently when his health declined.

He was the founder and pastor for Gospel-Land Ministries, Inc., maintaining a church on Douglas Ave in Columbia City. His passion was for his church, and he served with many organizations to spread the gospel and help others including, Whitley County Jail Ministry 1987-1997, Drug Free Indiana, Public Defenders organization and was a founding member of Life Center of Whitley County. During the summer months, he enjoyed his vegetable garden. 

He is survived by his wife; son, Jerry (Whitney) Moser of Huntertown; two daughters, Dalene Moser; and Darlene (Bart) Walcutt, both of Fort Wayne; step-daughter, Kathy (Adam) Bottles of Columbia City; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce Moser; brother, Gordon Moser; and four sisters, Helen Franze; June Study; Imogene Skipper; and Janean Mills.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 21 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery.
