Deborah K. Folk

Deborah Kay Folk, 60, of Berne went to be with the Lord at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at home. She was born on November 20, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas to Larry J. Churchwell and Patricia D. (Stumbo) Heck. She was married on June 4, 1994 to Warren E. Folk, and they shared 19 years together before he passed away.

She was a graduate of Huntington North High School, and she continued her education and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in nursing. She worked at Blackford Community Hospital for five years before she transferred to the VA Hospital, where she was employed for eight years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Marion.

Some of her favorite things to do were cooking, baking, spending time with her family and grandchildren, attending church, listening to classical music, and sitting on the beach enjoying the peace of the ocean.

She is survived by her father; daughter, Damara (Dan) Neuenschwander of Berne; son, Derek (Lori) Payne of Bluffton; step-daughter, Jennifer Holly of Sacramento, California; grandchildren, Solomon and Boaz Neuenschwander of Berne; Elijah and Charlotte Payne of Bluffton; and Kalena and Jonathan Holly Jr. of  Sacramento, California; two brothers, Larry (JoAnn) Heck; and James (Vicki) Heck; and sister, Joyce (Matt) Dodge.

She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband on September 18, 2013; grandmother, Ida Huckleberry; and adoptive father, Roy Heck.

Visitation will be an hour and a half prior to the 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20 at First Christian Church, 1970 N. Wabash Rd., Marion. Officiating will be Rev. Roslyn Harrison. Burial will be at Marion National Cemetery.
