Don A. Yager

Don A. Yager, 86, of Berne passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Swiss Village in Berne, where he was a resident. He was born on July 16, 1931 in Adams County to Laurin and Naomi (Gilbert) Yager. He was married on August 29, 1953 to Berneta Sprunger.

He was a graduate of Lancaster High School in Wells County and was an active member of the Grace Bible Church, where he was an elder, deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher, and usher. He was employed at Berne Furniture and spent 31 years with the US Post Office as a letter carrier delivering mail on a three-wheeled bicycle. Later, he was a truck driver for Helena Chemical of Berne. He was a faithful blood donor giving over eight gallons. He enjoyed collecting new and used Bibles and a variety of church materials for the Christian Resource International in Fowlerville, Michigan, where he also served on the Board of Directors.

He is survived by his wife of Berne; three daughters, Brenda Sue Yager of Indianapolis; Linda Lou Yager of Fort Wayne; and Ronda June (Jay) Yoder of Mishawaka; brother, Wayne Yager of Churubusco; sister, Ellen (Gene) Snyder of Churubusco; two grandsons, Michael and Aaron Yoder; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27 and one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, September 28 at the Swiss Village Auditorium in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Gaskill. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.

Memorials may be made to Grace Bible Church, Swiss Village Samaritan Fund, or Christian Resources International.
