Dorothy I. Tumbleson
Dorothy I. Tumbleson, 90, of Decatur, formerly of Berne, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Woodcrest Nursing Facility in Decatur. She was born on August 8, 1927 in Mercer County, Ohio to Bruce Lee and Beatrice Lulu (Krugh) Ross. She was married on June 13, 1947 to Harley J. Tumbleson.
She was a member of the First Missionary Church in Berne and the American Legion Post #468 of Berne. She was a homemaker and employed by CTS of Berne for 31 years. She and her husband organized the first Muscular Dystrophy Association in Adams County.
She is survived by her son, Darrell W. Tumbleson of Melbourne, Florida; three daughters, Carol Baugher of Fort Wayne; Janis (Ralph) Haggard of Wolcottville; and Genise (Jimmie) Carriere of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Ken Ross of Willshire, Ohio; Lanny (Mary Ellen) Ross of Fort Wayne; and Paul Ross of Convoy, Ohio; sister, Rosemary Charleston of Van Wert, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 2, 2010; daughter Joyce Williams in 1994; and two brothers.
Visitation will be three hours prior to the 2:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, October 28 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home in Decatur. Officiating will be Chap. Jeff Lutrell. Burial will be at the Decatur Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Parkinson’s Disease or Gideons.
