Edith R. Oyer

Edith R. Oyer, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at a caring and loving community at Legacy Estates in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her family was blessed to be with her to celebrate her 92nd birthday. She was born on February 25, 1925 in Berne to Jess and Cora (Kirchhofer) Yoder. She was married on May 27, 1945 in Fort Wayne to Paul D. Oyer, and they were devoted to each other for 54 years of marriage.

She graduated from Fort Wayne International Business College in 1944. She worked for many years as a programmer/analyst for government agencies and large corporations and later organized international technology conferences. She lived on the east coast (Washington, D.C., NYC) and New Mexico before following her daughter to Lincoln, Nebraska.

She loved her family, traveling, reading, shopping, attending church, praying for family and friends, and was always full of energy and a joy to be around.

She is survived by her son, David Oyer of Reading, Massachusetts; daughter, Linda (Kenneth) Scheffe of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Benjamin (Sandy), Shawn (Kristin), and Xela (Kamil); and her beloved pet cockatiel, Patti. 

A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 7601 Vine St., Lincoln, NE 68505.
