Emma L. Ahr | The Berne Witness

Emma L. Ahr

She sang in a ladies barbershop chorus and quartet while living in Anderson. She worked for the Leadership Training Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio who were sponsors for the Dale Carnegie Courses. Her job was to sell the Dorothy Carnegie Course (for women) and then to be the instructor for the classes in Cincinnati and in Dayton, Ohio. She was a Bible teacher, seminar speaker, and retreat speaker through the years.

Our Heavenly Father literally downloaded a love for the Jews and for the Jewish nation in our mother’s heart. Mother learned some Hebrew while living in Fort Wayne and also conducted Passover Seders. The world is a better place because our mother loved the Lord throughout her days.

She is survived by two daughters, Christine (Edmond) Schaefer of Tucson, Arizona; and Sandra (Ronald) Willard of Fortville; son, Steven (Sue) Ahr of Florence, Kentucky; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; step-mother, Helena Mae Liechty; and sister, Mary Ellen Hessa.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the 3:00 p.m. funeral service on Friday, October 6 at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne. Private burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
