Ernest E. Sprunger
Ernest E. Sprunger, 90, of Berne passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Swiss Village in Berne, where he was a resident. He was born on January 15, 1927 in Adams County to Sylvan and Mary (Lehman) Sprunger. He was married on September 10, 1950 to Eileen Sprunger.
He was a faithful member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne. He farmed for many years and was a member of Gideon's International and the Tri-State Tractor Association. He enjoyed woodworking and was a faithful Bible reader. In his retirement years, he provided transportation for the Amish community. He loved his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by three sons, Dale (Susie) Sprunger; and Mark Sprunger, both of Berne; and Tom Sprunger of Portland; two daughters, Wendy (Todd) Striker of Linn Grove; and Rebecca (Steve) Billington of Bryant; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother, Jerry Sprunger; and two sisters, Josephine Myers; and Shirley Fruchte.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 5 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, January 6 at the First Mennonite Church in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor A. James Schwartz. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
