Evelyn M. Walker

Evelyn M. Walker, 92, of Anderson, formerly of Geneva, passed away at 4:04 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson. She was born on Friday, August 5, 1924 in Decatur to John L. and Myrtle May (Miller) Boice. She was married on Friday, May 29, 1942 in Portland to Willard D. Walker.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She had attended the Geneva Schools. She had assisted in the Walker Service Station in Geneva for many years. She enjoyed reading, camping, sharing recipes, and gardening. She loved crocheting for the homeless and watching hummingbirds.

She is survived by two sons, James Walker of Santa Rosa, California; and John Layton Walker of Omaha; daughter, Judith Ann Walker of Anderson; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Janice May Phipps; son, Willard Walker Jr.; grandson, Tom Walker; two brothers; and one sister.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the 2:00 p.m. funeral service on Monday, August 15 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva. Officiating will be Rev. Wilbur Taylor. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Geneva.
