Frederick W. Davidson

Frederick W. Davidson, 89, of Geneva passed away at 12:34 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. He was born on Thursday, October 27, 1927 in Berne to Don M. and Mary H. (Martin) Davidson. He was married on Saturday, July 3, 1948 in Jackson Township, Wells County to Chloe Bailey. 

He retired from I.H.C. in Fort Wayne in 1983, after 27 years of service. He had also worked at Smith Brothers Furniture in Berne for 13 years, Yager Furniture in Berne for five years, and Simons for several years. He was a member of Bethel Brethren Church in Berne. He was on the Adams County Council on Aging for five years, a Trustee Board member for five years, a member of the Geneva Town Council for eight years, and was on the Adams County Economic Development for eight years. He had also been a member of the Geneva Coffee Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife of Geneva; two daughters, Deborah Parrett; and Jocelyn “Jodi” (James) Zerby, both of Berne; two sons, James E. (Mary) Davidson; and Mark T. (Nancy Scott) Davidson, both of Berne; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin Davidson; daughter, Kira Jean Davidson, and sister, Mary Doherty Newcomer.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3 and one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, April 4 at Bethel Brethren Church, 718 E. Main St., Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Joseph Nass. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Geneva.

Graveside military rites will be performed by the U.S Air Force and the Berne American Legion.
