Harold A. Minnich | The Berne Witness

Harold A. Minnich

Harold A. Minnich, 95, former longtime resident of rural Willshire, Ohio, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Chalet Village in Berne. He was born on Tuesday, June 6, 1922 in Wells County to Oscar E. and Ethel M. (Mowery) Minnich. He was married on October 9, 1949 in Adams County to Lucrecia Ellen Burger.

He was a graduate of Bluffton High School in 1942. He retired as the office manager of Meshberger Bros. Stone Corp. - Pleasant Mills Blue Creek Plant with 38 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene in Berne, where he served on the church board and building committees. He was a Sunday school teacher and also helped with Bible school. He was an avid fisherman and IU fan. He also bred and raised AKC Boxer dogs. 

He is survived by his wife of Willshire, Ohio; two sons, Daniel (Jan) Minnich of Willshire, Ohio; and Stan (Cindy) Minnich of Geneva; daughter, Julie (Kevin) Moss of Inman, South Carolina; brother, Floyd Minnich of Warren; sister, Mary Jane (Dave) Park of Bluffton; 10 grandchildren, Andrea (Greg) Jahnke; Marica (Jeff) Kish; Kit (Shelby) Minnich; Lucus (Melissa) Minnich; Patrick (Ashley) Minnich; Grant (Terri) Minnich; Ben (Andrea) Minnich; Rev. Emily (James) Compton; Ryan Moss; and Kyla Moss; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence and Wayne Minnich; and sister, Clara Andrews.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the 12:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, February 24 at Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene in rural Berne. Officiating will be Pastor David Cox and Pastor Emily Compton. Burial will be at Mt. Hope (Willard) Cemetery in Berne.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene.
