Harold D. Sprunger | The Berne Witness

Harold D. Sprunger

Harold D. Sprunger, 91, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at The Towne House Retirement Center of Fort Wayne. He was born in Berne to Grover and Katherine Sprunger. He was married to Betty Sprunger.

He completed his Bachelor's degree and Master's degree from the University of Michigan. He worked with Dunbar Furniture, where he served as president. Most recently, he worked as a plant manager with Batesville Casket Company for 12 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church and an active volunteer with the Matthew 25 Clinic and Dupont Hospital.

He is survived by three sons, Steve (Ann) Sprunger of Angola; Mark (Donna) Sprunger of Allen, Texas; and Matthew (Janel) Sprunger of Huntertown; daughter, Christine Ostrander of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother; and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Rd., Fort Wayne and one hour prior to the 9:00 a.m. celebration of life service on Saturday, May 20 at Covenant United Methodist Church, 10001 Coldwater Rd., Fort Wayne.

Memorials may be made to the Matthew 25 Clinic or Covenant United Methodist Church.
