Irene R. Agler

Irene R. Agler, 95, of Evansville, formerly of Berne, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in Bluffton. She was born on January 30, 1922 to Grady and Nina (Swartz) Light. She was married on November 26, 1941 to Albert Agler.

She graduated from Decatur High School in 1940. She worked at G.E. in Decatur from 1940-1944. She worked as a seamstress at Berco in Berne until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of the Bethel Brethren Church in Berne. She served God with her musical talents playing piano and organ for over 40 years. The last 13 years she spent living in Evansville and attended the St. John's United Church of Christ. She recently moved to Christian Care in Bluffton.

She is survived by two sons, Jon (Norma) Agler of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Glen (Becky) Agler of Evansville; two daughters, Sandy (Mike) Burry-Joker of Bluffton; and Vicki (Cary) Hanni of Evansville; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Robert, Gerald, and Donald Light; and six sisters, Cleo Green; Genevieve Meshberger; Pauline Heller; Ileo Burke; Cosie Chase; and Beatrice Eck.

Visitation will be from 1:15 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, June 24 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Joe Nass. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.

Memorials may be made to Family LifeCare or Bethel Brethren Church.
