Jack Johnson
Jack Johnson, 64, of Decatur passed away at 11:42 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne after surgical complications. He was born on July 23, 1952 to John W. and Annabelle (Bebout) Johnson.
He attended Pleasant Mills School and graduated from Adams Central as well as IPFW. Following graduation from college, he worked for the Soil Conservation office for his entire career. He was a member of the Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church.
He was very involved in the lives of his nieces and nephews and got great joy out of assisting with their 4-H Horse and Pony and 4-H Swine Clubs. His memory will be cherished in the life lessons he instilled through countless hours of horse riding, pig walking, and shows. He was also heavily involved in the Indiana Standardbred Association and part of Johnson Brothers farms.
He is survived by his father; three brothers, Don, Jim, and Randy Johnson, all of Decatur; sister, Debbie (Randy) Landis of Decatur; three nephews, Nathan (Lindsay) Landis; Matt (D’Erin) Landis; and John (Meghan) Johnson; two nieces, Missy (Andy) Henry; and Megan Johnson; and five great-nieces and nephews, Kenli Landis; Briggs Landis; Ezra and Trace Henry; and Johnny Johnson.
He was also fortunate to gain an extended family of support in 1997 when his father remarried Joan Workinger. Her children include Sharon Fisher; Janet (Mark) Andrews; Dan (Lori) Workinger; Lori (Ked) Snyder; and Micki (John) Schultz, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his mother; his step-mother; and sister, Susie Johnson.
Visitation was from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 26 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 27 at the funeral home. Officiating was Pastor Karen Garner. Burial was at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Decatur.
