James E. Mosser
James E. Mosser, 81, of Decatur passed away at 6:53 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Genesis Health Care in New Haven. He was born on Sunday, April 14, 1935 in Adams County to Solomon “Bud” and Lolita (Blocker) Mosser, Jr. He was married on Friday, August 13, 2004 in Evansville to Shirley A. Leonard.
He attended Geneva High School. He worked at Franklin Electric in Bluffton, retiring in 1997 after 44 years of service. He attended Cornerstone Church in Decatur. He worked at Smith Bros. furniture in Berne and also Helena Chemical in Berne. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 87 in Jay County and also #571 in Adams County. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and Shrine-Mizpah. He was a member of the Franklin Electric Quarter Century Club. He was a member of the hospital unit of the Shriners, where he transferred many patients. He also served 50 years on the Geneva Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife of Decatur; son, Alan D. Mosser of Burlington, Vermont; four daughters, Shirley (David) Hutcheson of Swayzee; Pam (Mike) Smith of Millersburg; Vickie (Ben) Hough of Geneva; and Cynthia (Nou) Phouleuanghong of Warsaw; sister, Beverly Thomas of Monroe; nephew, Todd Thomas; three step-children; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Philip Mosser.
Visitation will be four hours prior to the 3:00 p.m. funeral service on Thursday, January 12 in the Annex Building of the First United Methodist Church in Geneva. A Masonic Service will be held at 2:45 p.m. conducted by the Jay Co. #87. Officiating will be Bob Shook. Burial will take place at a later date.
