Joseph L. Wittwer
Joseph “Joe” L. Wittwer, 86, of Berne passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. He was born on February 17, 1931 in Adams County to Jesse and Blanette (Lanning) Wittwer. He was married on September 3, 1950 in Berne to Phyllis Kneuss.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a truck driver for over 50 years and was employed at Home Dairy, Mersman Company in Celina, and Craig Trucking in Albany. He enjoyed collecting ballpoint pens and yardsticks.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Warren Kneuss of Decatur; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Kneuss of Ridgecrest, California; three nieces, Cindy (Arthur) Hill; and Alicia Kneuss, both of Decatur; and Stacy (Zachary) Sechrist of Ridgecrest, California; and nephew, David (Lillie) Simon of Shelton, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2016; and brother, Robert Wittwer.
Graveside services will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne at a later date.
Military rites will be provided by Berne American Legion Post #468.
