Kenneth J. Neuenschwander

Kenneth Jerome Neuenschwander, 96, of San Antonio, Texas died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, September 1, 2017. He was born on September 18, 1920 in Berne to David and Maria (Soldner) Neuenschwander. He was married in 1941 to Anna Barbara Liechty of Berne.

He was a pilot instructor during World War II, after which he graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Indiana University with a BA in History. He was recalled to active service for the Korean War, piloting cargo planes between Japan and Korea. During his second tour of duty, he earned an MA in Education from Boston University, where he served as Assistant Professor of Air Science. He retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1968, receiving the Legion of Merit for his outstanding service. After retiring, he founded two San Antonio printing concerns, Multicopy and Sunwest Business Forms, where he worked daily until his second retirement at age 90.

He is survived by his wife; son, Brian (Jane) Neuenschwander; daughter, Gail (Chester) Bruington; and granddaughter, Hannah Neuenschwander.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Emerson “Sparky” Neuenschwander; and two sisters, Agnes Burkholder; and Naomi Lehman.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15 at University Presbyterian Church, 300 Bushnell, San Antonio, Texas 78212.
