Mary Anne Davis

Mary Anne Davis, 99, of Berne and a former Bluffton resident, passed away at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Swiss Village in Berne, where she had been a resident since 1985. She was born on July 31, 1916 in Adams County to Christian E. and Edna (Soldner) Stauffer. She was married on November 26, 1942 in Fort Wayne to George C. Davis.

She was a 1934 graduate of Berne High School and graduated from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for the Caylor-Nickel Clinic and the American Red Cross and worked as the school nurse for Bluffton Harrison for 11 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bluffton and was a former member of Tri Kappa Sorority and Wells County Extension Chorus. She enjoyed spending summers at her cottage on Lake James.

She is survived by her son, Glenn Edward Davis of San Francisco, California; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on September 15, 1961; sister, Priscilla Douglas; and four brothers, Glen Stauffer; Waldo Stauffer; LeRoy Stauffer; and Harold Stauffer.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Thursday, July 14 at Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Officiating will be Chaplain Mike Wertenberger of Swiss Village. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.

Memorials may be made to Swiss Village Samaritan Fund.
