Maxine R. Moser | The Berne Witness

Maxine R. Moser

Maxine Ruth Moser, 94, of Berne passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 in Grand Haven, Michigan while visiting her daughter, Joan. She was born on April 2, 1922 in Adams County to Omer and Edna (Habegger) Neuenschwander. She was married on May 25, 1947 to Verlin R. Moser.

She was a member of the First Missionary Church, where she was active in the children's ministries and summer Vacation Bible School. She and her husband served as representatives in the CASA organization. For many years, they were counselors in the Bill Glass prison crusades, and she was currently active in the Gideon's Auxillary. She enjoyed her role as a wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother and had fun attending her grandchildren's musical and sports activities as well as accompanying the family Florida spring outings. She enjoyed reading and spending time in her Bible. Lastly, she will be remembered for her friendly smile.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne (Chuck) Nelson of Fort Wayne; and Joan (Daniel) Held of Grand Haven, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Caroline (Chris Wasko) Nelson; Andrew (Parker Marie) Nelson; Samuel Kochmann; David (Thelma) Kochmann; and James, Sarah, Anna and Benjamin Held; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Virgil and Leroy Neuenschwander.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, February 18 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Max Haines. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery.
