Richard L. Fields, Jr.

Richard L. Fields, Jr., 86, of Berne passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Swiss Village in Berne, where he was a resident. He was born on June 7, 1930 to Richard L. and Jesse Nema (Runyon) Fields. He was married on September 7, 1951 to Katherine D. Grogg.

He was a member of Cross Community Church in Berne. He retired from CTS Corp in Berne and was also engaged in farming. He was an avid South Adams athletics and IU sports fan. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, and he loved his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, John C. Fields of Marion; three daughters, Debra L. Fields of Newberg, Oregon; Linda (Terry) Elliott of Bluffton; and Barbara (Gregory) Fleming of Decatur; sister; Norma Jean Aspy of Albany; two brothers, Robert W. Fields of Minnesota; and David L. Fields of Gaston; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2002; and great-granddaughter, Lyncoln Hess.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21 and one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, April 22 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Chris Kruchkow. Burial will be at Alberson Cemetery in rural Linn Grove.

Memorials may be made to Cross Community Church or the Swiss Village Samaritan Fund.
