Romain E. Lehman

Romaine E. Lehman, 91, of Berne passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Swiss Village in Berne, where she was a resident. She was born on February 16, 1925 in Adams County to Ira and Irene (Moser) Stucky. She was married to Dennis Lehman for over 63 years.

She was a farmwife and a mother of six children and was all about faith and family. She was a lifelong member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and especially family gatherings. To her great-grandchildren, she will always be remembered as Candy Grandma.

She is survived by two sons, James (Roberta) Lehman of Berne; and Lee (Barbara) Lehman of Centerville, Ohio; two daughters, Denise (Barry) Moore of Geneva; and Gretta (Ted) Beitler of Berne; sister, Esther Bailey of David City, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons; Glen and Ira Lehman; two sisters, Lucile Schumacher; and Marie Burry; and granddaughter, Jessica Lehman.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22 at the Swiss Village Chapel in Berne and one hour prior to the 2:30 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, July 23 at the First Mennonite Church in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Jerry A. Flueckiger. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.

Memorials may be made to Agape Respite Care in Berne or Mennonite Central Committee.
