Sally A. Schneider

Sally A. Schneider, 82, of Berne, formerly of Portland, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Swiss Village in Berne, where she was a resident. She was born on March 29, 1935 in Richmond to Joseph and Flora (Schroeder) Holthouse. She was married in 1983 to Elmer M. Schneider.

She was a registered nurse and worked in Dr. Fitzpatrick and Dr. Schenck’s office in Portland for over 20 years. She was owner of Schneider Antiques in Portland for many years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Alter Rosary Society. She was a graduate of Portland High School in 1953 and Good Samaritan Nursing School in Dayton, Ohio in 1954.

She is survived by two sons, Michael J. (Suzette) McIntosh of New Castle; and Steve W. (Lori) McIntosh of Portland; three daughters, Marcia McIntosh; and Cynthia Cook, both of Richmond; and Mary (Bruce) Beery of Decatur; sister, Marcia Edwards of Centerville; step-son, Philip (Loretta) Schneider of Portland; step-daughter, Mary Jo Pearson of Celina, Ohio; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband on November 20, 2011.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16 at the Swiss Village Auditorium in Berne and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17 at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portland. Officiating will be Father Robert Moran.

Memorials may be made to the Swiss Village Endowment Fund or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
