Sylvester Sell

Sylvester “Bud” Sell, 81, of Pennville, died at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at his residence. He was born on Friday, March 20, 1936 in Decatur to Ora and Ruth (Smith) Sell.

He attended Geneva and Decatur schools. He attended the Geneva Nazarene Church. He worked with horses, built horse trailers, and was very well known in the Amish community. He was a maintenance worker at South Adams Schools for 26 years, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed going to auctions and wrestling matches.

He is survived by four daughters, Anita (Mike) Faller and Nancy Armstrong both of Geneva; Jeanette (Jim) Truppi of Ridgeville; and Tammy (Jeff) Hutchens of Four Oaks, North Carolina; four sons, Tim (Sabra) Sell of Pennville; Randy Sell of Bryant; Jim (Cheryl) Sell of Portland; and David Aveline of West Lafayette; four sisters, Martha Ball of Decatur; and Frances Fifer, Gladys Huth and Juanita Dillon all of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Ralph Sell of Texas; and Eddy Sell of Bryant; 26 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Irene Cripe and Mary Schick.

Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St. in Geneva. Funeral service is at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14 at the funeral home with Mark Hinshaw and Alan Crull officiating. Burial will follow at the Decatur Cemetery.
