Y. Ross Johnson

Y. Ross Johnson, 88, of Bryant passed away at 7:54 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in Decatur. He was born on March 5, 1929 in Madison County to Charles and Hazel (Dunlap) Johnson.

He graduated from Mendon Union High School in Ohio and Cedarville College in Ohio. He was a lifetime farmer and taught elementary school for 21½ years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Geneva.

He is survived by three daughters, Tamela (Terry) Bollenbacher of Flora; Cynthia (Paul) Misner of Greenfield; and Cassandra (Mark) VanZant of Zionsville; two sons, Douglas (Carolyn) Johnson of Portland; and Dr. Stacy (Jeanine) Johnson of Martinsville; brother, Leon (Anna) Johnson of Bluffton; sister, Patty (Bob) Adams of Oldsmar, Florida; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and six brothers.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7 at the First United Methodist Church in Geneva. Private services for the immediate and extended family will be held on Saturday, April 8. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Dean Elam. Burial will take place immediately following the service at the Westlawn Cemetery in Geneva.
