Starfires clinch ACAC softball title

South Adams built a six-run lead over six innings and then held on during a wild finish to beat Adams Central 6-5 Monday night and clinch a share of the Allen County Athletic Conference softball title. The Starfires (16-5, 4-2 ACAC) share the crown with Bluffton, and Adams Central still has a chance to claim a share if they come out on top of a game they will resume with Southern Wells Wednesday. The Starfires were cruising behind the strong pitching effort of junior Katelin Augsburger, and she slammed a two-run home run in the fifth that gave her team a 5-0 lead.
