Weekend rains prove to be boost to area crops
Most area farmers had smiles on their faces Sunday morning as they noted the benefits of showers that passed through the area late on Saturday afternoon. Late Saturday afternoon, an unexpected squall line formed in central Indiana and grew stronger as it moved to the east. By the time it crossed Adams County, most areas received a half inch of rain or better. Areas to the north of the county received a considerable greater amount of rain with Fort Wayne receiving nearly two inches and amounts between one and two inches covering a large area of northern Indiana and northwest Ohio.
